Going beyond current beauty ideals, the women portrayed on the canvas are not just flesh colored identities, they are animated flesh. Skin and flesh are materially inextricably linked. The skin serves as a structurally insurmountable barrier to the invisible and mysterious inner life of the woman. The body is understood as a “landscape” and the skin as the “border” organ that offers protection, giving shape at the same time. To be understood as an important mediator of relationships with the environment in both directions.
